Notholirion bulbiferum
Notholirion bulbiferum

A widespread Himalayan plant of the Lily family which is seldom seen, except in the gardens of specialists.
A small bulb makes a basal rosette of narrow, rush-like leaves and then bears a tall (from 100-120 cm) stem with a long spike of widely open, hanging pink-lavender bells in summer.
Graceful and very aristocratic in appearance this is a good subject for cool humus rich soils in light shade.
